Haymarket Tour

Oct. 7 at 11 a.m., Forest Home Cemetery, Haymarket Martyrs Monument, 863 Desplaines Ave.:

Take a walking tour of Radical Row and learn about the Haymarket Affair and those buried near the iconic monument. A $10 donation is requested, but not required. Parking for this event is at the office near the Desplaines entrance.

Garage Galleries

Oct. 7 at 4 p.m., Eagles Lodge and various locations (see below):

View the works of local artists in a unique setting — neighborhood garages. For a three-hour block, attendees will be able to take a walking tour of local creative works in more than 10 DIY galleries. Works will be located at: 

529 Elgin Ave., 540 Ferdinand Ave., 423 Beloit Ave., 7720 Monroe St., 1001 Elgin Ave., 1002 Marengo Ave., 1041 Thomas Ave., 1035 Thomas Ave., 1046 Thomas Ave., 1110 Thomas Ave., and 447 Hannah Ave.

Prohibition Tour

Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m., Exit Strategy Brewing Company, 7700 Madison St.:

Join the Historical Society of Forest Park on an adventure through the Prohibition Era. Starting at Exit Strategy Brewing Company, tour guides will lead groups to three other local bars while offering a guided history lesson. The tour will finish where it started with a flapper costume contest. Winners will receive tickets to next year's tour. This is a limited entry event. Familias Jugando en la Naturaleza (Families Playing in Nature)

Oct. 7, noon, Trailside Museum of Natural History, 738 Thatcher Ave., River Forest:

Families with young children are invited to this free playtime event focused on the natural world. Many of the activities will be led in Spanish by parents from the Logan Square Neighborhood Association.

Familias con niños están invitadas a este evento recreativo gratuito cuyo enfoque será la naturaleza. Muchas de las actividades serán en español por los padres de el Logan Square Neighborhood Association.

"Ezra & Mike" film screening

Oct. 7 at 10:30 a.m., Lake Theatre, 1022 Lake St., Oak Park:

Forest Park filmmaker John Rice (who also writes for the Review) will be screening his 22-minute documentary about racial tension in the village. This is a free event.
