Mother's Day Lucheon

Friday, May 12 from 1 to 3 p.m., Park District of Forest Park Building:

Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, the Park District of Forest Park and Roman Morrow are hosting a Mother's Day Luncheon on the third floor of the park district building, 7501 W. Harrison St. Please RSVP to danielle.watson@cookcountyil.gov or call 312-603-4566.

German Dinner and Carnival

Saturday, May 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church:

A German Dinner will be held this Saturday with carnival games for kids. Funds raised will help send nine youth to Germany with the International Youth Choir. Tickets are $10 adults, $6 seniors and children 4-12, age 3 and under free. To reserve tickets call 708-738-5593. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. 305 Circle Ave.

Letter Carrier Food Drive

Saturday, May 13: 

The 25th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Held each year on the second Saturday in May, the donations go to local food pantries in Forest Park, Oak Park and River Forest. Last year they collected 80 million pounds of food, which fed an estimated 64 million people.

Counter Coffee open mic

Thursday, May 11 from 7 to 10 p.m., Counter Coffee:

Saturday, May 13 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., 1st United Church Of Christ:

Elvis Night, featuring Jerry Vegas & DJ Mike, will get things all shook up this Saturday. The Elvis Café will be open, with pizza, grilled cheese, hot dogs, and drinks. Jane Hamilton After Dark

Friday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m., Forest Park Public Library:

A special Library After Dark event features renowned author Jane Hamilton, who will discuss the writing life in 2017 and offer a reading from her latest book, The Excellent Lombards, which Kirkus Reviews described as "richly characterized, beautifully written, and heartbreakingly poignant." 7555 Jackson Blvd. Call 708-366-7171.
