Looking for Earth Elsewhere

Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium will highlight Adler's search for extrasolar planets and present the most recent findings of places just like our home. Talk starts at 7 p.m. on July 11 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Sunday Movie Series: A Cat in Paris

Enjoy a free screening of the 2010 "A Cat in Paris" French animated film at 2 p.m. on July 8 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Explore Forest Park: Suite Spotte

Join Forest Park Public Library staff for a tour of the village's newest coworking space Suite Spotte. Tour the facility, hear from current users and much more. Exploration starts at 7 p.m. on July 10 at Suite Spotte, 7339 W. Madison St. 

Strong by Zumba

Strong by Zumba is a high-intensity interval training class that uses traditional moves for a more athletic, conditioning workout. Classes run every Wednesday from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., from July 11 to August 11. Residents pay $35; Non-residents $40; and drop-in classes cost $8 each. 

Four Winds Casino Trip

Seniors, try your odds at a few of the 3,000 slot machines and gaming tables at the new Four Winds Casino in South Bend, Indiana on July 5. $41 residents; $45 non-residents. You must have a valid state ID or driver's license with your full name, address, date of birth at time of payment. Reservations required. Call the Howard Mohr Community Center at 708-771-7737 to sign up.

Warriors Walk at the Trailside Museum

Join staff from the Forest Park Public Library for a nature walk through the woods, and listen to excerpts from novelist Erin Hunters "Warrior Cats" books series. Learn how the cats use their environment to survive and plant flags to claim territory for your favorite cat clans along the way. The Library will hold a flag designing party on June 6. 

For the walk, join library staff at 1 p.m. on July 7 at the Trailside Museum of Natural History, 738 Thatcher Ave. in River Forest.

Forest Home Cemetery Bicycle Tour

Founded in 1873, Forest Home Cemetery holds the historic Haymarket Martyrs Monument, Tiffany Company monuments, a mysterious Druid monument and much more. No better way to see the large cemetery than by bicycle! Meet tour guide Anne Alt at 8:30 a.m. on July 8 in Fox Park in Oak Park, 624 S. Oak Park Ave. The ride will be a moderate pace, and last about 15-miles.

Pop Up Storytime at Junction Diner

Join staff from the Forest Park Public Library for their monthly storytime at Junction Diner. Attendees will hear a fun story, and make a small take home craft. Fun starts at 12 p.m. on July 6 at Junction Diner, 7401 Madison St. 

St. John Choristers Children's Choir Day Camp

St. John's will hold its annual, 10-day choir camp from July 30 to August 10. Attendees will receive training in vocal technique, stage craft, improvisation and much more. The camp is open to all children older than second grade, regardless of school or religious affiliation. The camp culminates in an informal concert to be held on August 10. Camp costs $200 and runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Groov'n in the Grove

Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and head over to the Grove for a summer concert under the stars. Concerts are free; food and drink will be sold. "Out of Control" band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. on July 17 at the Grove, 7824 Madison St.
