The Haymarket Memorial time capsule that was unearthed at Forest Home Cemetery on Oct. 3 has not yet been opened. A team of local experts and volunteers are proceeding carefully with their examination of the capsule.

They recently X-rayed the cylinder but as of press time, they had not finished interpreting the films. The team consists of Larry Spivack from the Illinois Labor History Society, labor historian Mark Rogovin, Oak Park Public Library research librarian Bleue Benton, and Lake Forest Professor Rebecca S. Graff.

They were joined by WTTW Associate Producer Erica Gunderson, who oversaw filming of the capsule's recovery.

Rogovin said the story of the capsule's recovery has received worldwide attention, but they've decided not to release further information to the public until they are further along in the process.

Rogovin and Benton are planning to give a presentation about the time capsule at the Forest Park Historical Society on Thursday, Oct. 27.
