Responding to concerns from Forest Park residents and officials about technology and dispatching, State Representative Karen Yarbrough, D-7th, recently secured a $250,000 grant from the state to assist the Village of Forest Park in upgrading its emergency dispatch system. Yarbrough, Mayor Anthony Calderone, and other Forest Park elected officials announced the grant during an event at the Forest Park police station last Friday.

"Additional state funding will be of great assistance to our goal of providing outstanding public safety services to residents and businesses in Forest Park," said Calderone. "We appreciate the efforts of Representative Yarbrough in obtaining needed funding for our community to gain a technological edge."

Yarbrough noted that "area communities need all of the resources possible to help citizens that may be victims of crime or in other types of emergency."

"The state funds secured for Forest Park will help make its citizens safer," she said.

Village Administrator Michael Sturino said that the village had not yet determined precisely how the extra funds would be used.
