A new collection of math textbooks is expected to be purchased by the District 91 school board this month, updating the schools' materials for the first time in at least eight years.

The books are tentatively priced at $402,000, according to Ed Brophy, assistant superintendent, but that figure does not include any discounts that may be extended to the district. The learning materials are published by McGraw Hill, and are the company's Math Connects series. Students in every grade level in the district would use the new books.

Parents and taxpayers interested in seeing the books can view them at the district's administrative office, 424 Desplaines Ave. The board is expected to vote on the purchase at its March 11 meeting.
