Michael F. Garrity Sr., age 71, of Oak Park died Feb. 26 at Hines VA Hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1942 in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Michael was the husband of Diana M. (nee Ganschow), loving father of Michael Jr., Anne Catherine “Katie” (John) Tricoci, Mary Margaret “Peggy”, Matthew, Mark (Gloria), Jennifer (John) DeMoraes and Thomas, cherished grandfather of Emily, Melissa, Thomas, Bryanna, Tyler, Joseph, Jillian, Lillianna and Violet and great-grandfather of Allison, dear brother of John (Patricia), Jeanne and the late Eileen (late Tilford) Ward, and a fond uncle to many. Michael was a fleet mechanic for AT& T and enjoyed working on cars and taking trips with his hot rod. Memorial Mass will take place Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 808 S. East Avenue, Oak Park. Private interment will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.
