Dear Girish,

Thank you very much for your note and handwriting sample and for reading this column.

Your writing is repressed, narrow, somewhat rigid, slightly rightward, connected, slow, simplified and legible. It does not look like the kind of writing taught in American schools so I believe you went to school in Europe or were taught by a European teacher.

Girish, your writing is slow, narrow, compressed and simplified (no attempt at being fancy). These characteristics tell me that you are steady, careful, thrifty, cautious, consistent, calm, conservative, dependable and emotionally stable. Your mind is continually disciplining your emotions, so I know you are practical, have a good sense of reality and observation, and a sense of order that boils down to good common sense.

Because you are always working on self-control you can be tense, anxious, opinionated and you like having things your own way. You have some fear of the future, so your viewpoints are narrow and you are fairly inhibited on an emotional level.

You are a logical thinker, Girish. You reach conclusions slowly and through careful logic. Your thinking should never be hurried and you should try to avoid making quick decisions because you need time to gather your thoughts and put them together. Because you think slowly does not mean you are unintelligent, but you do need time to avoid jumping to hasty conclusions.

You are something of a conformist, Girish, in that you try to follow the rules and to do the right thing at the right time. You are not an individualist or a “boat rocker.” You are also quiet, even secretive. You don’t express your thoughts or your feelings and you keep your money, time, and possessions carefully, so you are thrifty as well as conservative. At the same time you are not dependent on others for approval, so you are self-sufficient.

Your capital “I” has hardly any base. This tells me that you were strongly influenced by your mother and identify with her. This has made you self-protective and suggests that you were strongly influenced by your early life experiences.

Your combination of narrow letters with cramped spacing shows that you are emotionally inhibited and fearful so you have pared down your emotions so that you can keep them under control. As a result you are not a very emotionally responsive person, but this is your coping mechanism and it is good as long as it helps you get along.

Good luck and Happy Independence Day.
