A Proviso East High School graduate has been picked in the NBA Draft, held June 21.

Jevon Carter, who served as a star guard at Proviso East before going on to West Virginia University, was selected 32nd by the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the NBA Draft.

According to the Bleacher Report, after "establishing himself as one of college basketball's top defenders through three years at West Virginia, Carter improved his offense this past season to get on the NBA map.

"He followed a strong senior year by impressing at the combine and solidifying himself as a legitimate pro prospect who can help at both ends of the floor."

As a Proviso East graduate, it just puts a smile to my face to see another graduate that is making a career in the NBA. My beloved alma mater has a long history of athletes that went on to have a career in the NBA. Congratulations Jevon and always show "nothing but the best."
