Charles E. Marinier

Occupation: Marinier has been a letter carrier for the Forest Park Post Office for 27 years.

Education: Marinier attended Betsy Ross Elementary School, the Forest Park Middle School, Proviso East High School and Triton College.

Involvement: Marinier served on the Citizen’s Advisory Council for School District 91 for three years prior to being elected to the board in 1991. He served as a board member for eight years, but lost his bid for re-election in 2003. He served as secretary of the school board for four years and was director of the West Cook Division of the Illinois Association of School Boards. Following his 2003 loss, Marinier became president of the Citizen’s Advisory Council, a position he will hold until the end of this election cycle.

Issues to address:Working on the district’s budget, given that the cost of everything is going up but the tax cap on education is not. The No Child Left Behind Act, and it’s implications for the district, the schools and the children. Keeping standardized tests within the regulations set forth by the federal government.

Larry Buckley

Occupation: Superintendent of parks

Education:Buckley was a student within the Forest Park School District until eight grade and then attended high school at St. Joseph High School in Westchester. Buckley is certified in Parks and Recreation and attended safety school for parks.

Involvement:Buckley has been employed at the Park District of Forest Park from 1989 to the present, he is vice-president of the School District 91 School Board and has been a little league coach and an umpire for the Forest Park Middle School Softball League. He is also a member
of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association and the Midwest Institute of Park Executives.

Issues to address:Raising ISAT scores and continuing to improve our schools.

Lois Bugajsky

Occupation: Executive Director, West Suburban Bar Association

Education: Buga-jsky is a graduate of Forest Park Middle School and Proviso East High School; she has also attended Triton College.

Involvement: Bugajsky is a member of the Forest Park Plan Commission and a former Cub Scout mom. She is also a member of the Forest Park Little League Auxiliary and the Band Parents Association. Bugajsky
is a member of the Main Street Redevelopment Association and the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. She is the second most veteran member of the District’s board, having been on the board for 23 years.

Issues to address: ISAT scores at the Middle School for 8th graders in math. Other than the ISAT tests at Middle School, Forest Park’s children are progressing and class sizes are small, she said/

Marilyn Garapolo

Occupation: Home business”health and wellness

Education: Business/fashion merchandising

Involvement: Garapolo was an election judge in Precinct 66 for three years, she also campaigned for Anthony Calderone and was a member of the Welcome Neighbor Committee and the Chamber of Commerce. She helped implement the Meals-on-wheels program at her church for the sick, new moms, etc. Garapolo rode her bicycle in two Tanqueray AIDS rides in 1998 and 1999, raising over $6,000 for the fight against AIDS.

Issues to address: To be responsible for the taxpayers taxes. Dealing with the impact transfer students have on the district and addressing the changing and more diverse face of the village. Communicating the board’s mission to the public.
