Origami Workshop: If you’d like to learn how to make beautiful origami creations like the ones that were displayed in the library’s lobby, here’s your chance. Ms. Carolin Winter will give a workshop on this ancient Japanese art form. The class will be Thursday, May 19 at 7:00 PM in the Austin Meeting Room. Class size will be limited to those 10 years old through adult, with a maximum of 20 participants. Please come to the Circulation Desk to sign up and pay the $2.00 fee required to cover the cost of materials.

Friends of the Library Book Sale: Come troll for bargains! The semiannual Book Sale will be on the following dates and times: Friday, May 13, from 12 to 5 PM; Saturday, May 14, from 10 AM to 5 PM; Sunday, May 15, from 1 to 5 PM; Monday, May 16, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Books, music, and video items will all be available. Come early for the best selection!

Asian Pacific Heritage Month: May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month. If you are interested in doing topical reading related to the Asian Pacific theme, please take a copy of the short bibliography we have put together of books available in the library. All books listed are in our collection, but the bibliography is not exhaustive. Please check our catalog for more, or ask a librarian to help you find items here, or through Interlibrary Loan from other libraries.

Family Movie Afternoon:  The Family Movie will be on Sunday, May 22, at 2 PM. This month’s feature will be the newly released “Lemony Snicket” movie. Please join us for an afternoon of free fun and refreshments!
