Thomas Stuart, 79, WWII veteran, early computer technician
Thomas B. Stuart, 79, died on May 29, 2005. A WWII veteran who was ahead of his time, Stuart served his country as a technician, using computers before anyone ever heard of them.

Born in Johnson City, Tenn. and raised in the town of Cawood in Harlan County, Ken., Stuart was a former resident of both Oak Park and Forest Park.

He also worked for various companies, including IBM and Sunbeam.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Stuart; and his nieces and nephews, Dorothy and Mary (Carnis) Stuart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Weil); his brother, Charles; and his parents, Rev. Benjamin and Ruth Stuart.

Memorial services will be held June 17 at 3 p.m., at Calvary Memorial Church, 931 Lake St. in Oak Park, followed by interment in Neponsit, Ill.
