Today we got word of the retirement of two strong, amazing women, Melissa Lou and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. We will feel the loss of Melissa here, but I’m afraid the loss of Justice O’Connor will change the course of history in the nation. Where will we be as a nation in ten years? As an aunt of mine (died at 93) used to say, “I’m glad I’m on the way out.”
Melissa is on her way out to a bilingual (English and Spanish) publication and we wish her well.

Dana Valenza and Joe Jaime were married June 24. Best wishes for the happiness of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jaime. Dana is the daughter of Anna Marie Gilardi.
John Ericksen is recovering and we wish him an even speedier recovery. John may have left Forest Park and our school system, but he will never be forgotten here.

Maxine Lange is, even as we speak, in London, England. She and her fellow seventh graders will travel to Birmingham, England, various cities in Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Maxine is a member of the “People to People Student Ambassador” program. Don’t you wish they’d had that program when you were in seventh grade?
