Ted and Laurie Cowen celebrated 60 years of marriage with a private gathering at the Apollo Activity Center in Belvidere. They were wed June 14, 1945 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chicago. The couple moved to Belvidere in 1961. Both are active in community organizations. Ted, retired Belvedere Company President and CEO, served as Regional Director of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) where he continues to volunteer. Ted, was born and raised in Forest Park on Hannah Avenue. His parents resided there well into their eighties. Ted and Laurie are the proud parents of six children: Ted (Lynn) Cowen of Libertyville, Marsha (Roger) Hosfeld of Rockford, Peter (Christine) Cowen of Belvidere, Tony Cowen of Stehekin WA, Martin (Ann) Cowen of Naperville, and Larry Cowen, deceased. The couple has five grandchildren: Todd (Laura) Cowen of Glenview, Angelynn Cowen of Chicago, Rebecca, Andrew and Matthew Cowen of Naperville, and two great-grandchildren: Emily and Ryan Cowen of Glenview.
