Fred G. Meyer, 93, Founding principal of Walther Lutheran High School
Fred G. Meyer, 93, of Westchester, died August 20. Meyer was the beloved husband of the late Margaret K Meyer, and the father of Carol Young, Margery Benz, and Rev. Thomas Meyer.

He has 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 3-9 p.m. Monday at Zimmerman-Ehringer-Harnett Funeral Home in Forest Park and 10 ” 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, where service will be held at 11.a.m. with interment at Randhill Park cemetery.

Elizabeth C. Croke, 89, Former FP resident
Elizabeth C. Croke, nee Cruise, of Jupiter, Florida, died August 6, just 20 days before her 90th birthday celebration. Mrs. Croke was the wife of the late Francis H. Croke; mother of Judith (Michael) Sammon, Mary Elizabeth (Robert) Fay, Thomas (Vicki), Susan, Terence (Anne), John (Laura) and dear friend of Elizabeth Gosnell.

Loving grandmother of Maureen, Stephanie (Robert) Hart, Gavin, Jaime, Ryan, Terence, Alexander and Peter; and great-grandmother of Jacqueline Helen Hart.

Mrs. Croke, a homemaker and member of the Infant Welfare Society, lived in the Forest Park, Oak Park and River Forest area most of her life, before moving to Florida in November, 2000.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Luke’s Church in River Forest at noon, Saturday, August 27, with private burial following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.

Ludvina Neukuckatz, 100, 30-year FP resident
Ludvina Neukuckatz, nee Zimmer, 100, of Plainfield, died August 15 at Manor Care in Naperville.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 24 with Mrs. Neukuckatz lying-in-state from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 North Ridgeland Avenue in Oak Park.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Neukuckatz is survived by two sons, Alfred (Lillian) of Orange, California and Albert (Rhoda) of Prospect Heights; two daughters, Eleanor Drane of Plainfield and Elsie (Ralph) Frick of Stone Mountain, Georgia,; her daughter-in-law, Barbara, of North Redding, Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Neukuckatz is preceded in death by her husband, John, R.E.; her son, Ernst, her son-in-law Richard Drane; and two brothers.

Mrs. Neukuckatz was born in Brazil. She was a resident of the Maywood area for 40 years, Forest Park for over 30 years, and Plainfield for 4 years. She had worked at Walter Lutheran High School and Westlake Hospital. Mrs. Neukuckatz was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Park for over 45 years.
