Welcome home to Barb and Bob Sullivan who have been basking in the sunshine and beauty of Las Bahias de Huatulco,Mexico where their daughter Cara Sullivan became the wife of Bob Boling. The new resort is set to become one of Mexico’s key beach areas. But it ain’t cheap, according to the literature. Planners hope it will not become the next Cancun or Acapulco, however.

A bizarre thing happened to me about nine o’clock the other night as I was walking my part-time dog. We reached the corner of Adams & Beloit when a young Chinese man approached out of the darkness and asked if I knew Betty Gilchrist. I said I did, but that she had moved. He talked excitedly about how he had met Betty and her co-worker, Dr. Hester one of the editors at Laidlaw, many years ago. Betty and the late Dr.Hester had traveled to every corner of the globe including Antarctica. When they were in China this young man had been their guide and they grew very fond of one another. I took the young man to my house where we called Betty who was astounded to hear this man’s voice after so many years. I drove him to her new apartment and the two of them had a happy if totally unexpected reunion. What are the chances-a guy from Beijing walks down a street near Chicago and happens into one person who knew his old friend?
