Trudy Roznos and husband Rich have just returned from a once in a lifetime trip to Prague and other related destinations. Pictured here, she is standing alongside a world famous (now you and I know about it, too) sculpture made entirely of books! The name of this artistic wonder is “Idiom.” Trudy and Rich visited all the exciting places in the area and ended their adventure with a cruise down the Danube from Nuremberg to Vienna.
Betty Schultz, President of the Seniors Club, hosted the senior Christmas party last week at the Community Center. The group was entertained by the West Suburban Seniors Orchestra, conducted by Dan D’Andrea.
Here’s a heartwarming story for the season. Andrea Welsh was taking her elderly, ill dog Katie to a vet on Harrison when she got a flat tire. Frantically Andrea got out and began wondering what to do when out of nowhere came a man who not only offered to fix the tire, he gave Andrea his car to take Katie to the doctor. Andrea is sure the man was one of those angels you hear about. She would like to know this humanitarian’s name but doesn’t know how to go about finding out. He lives in Oak Park somewhere near Harrison Street.
Last week the Community Center Wednesday tour was hosted by Mary Edsey who has written an illustrated book of Chicago area houses all done up in their Christmas finery and glitter. Before the Christmas house tour the group ate lunch at the once famous Pump Room! Youngsters won’t remember the Pump Room, but we old timers recall the days when it was the place to go in Chicago. Mary Edsay, by the way, is the aunt of Forest Park’s own David Collins.
Very belated happy birthday wishes to Anna Robinson, November 28th.

Northwestern University is looking for a few senior ladies who like to sing, read music and are interested in rehearsing once a week. “Wally” is a pleasant woman with a good sense of humor, and I think the experience would benefit everyone involved.
