In compliance with the llinois Open Meetings Act, the Board of Park Commissioners wishes to announce that Park Board Meeting Agendas and Minutes of those meetings are now available on the Park District of Forest Park’s website at www.pdofp.org

An amendment to the Illinois Open Meetings Act effective January 1, 2006 will require all park districts (and other public bodies) with web sites maintained by the District’s full-time staff to post on their websites:

The agenda of any regular meetings of the Board of Park Commissioners, which must remain posted on the website until the regular meeting is concluded.

Notice of all meetings of the Parkk Board. Any notice of an annual schedule of meetings must remain posted until a new public notice of the schedule of regular meetings is approved.

Beginning July 1, 2006, minutes of a regular open meeting of the Park Board within seven days of the approval of the minutes. The minutes must remain posted for at least 60 days after the initial posting.

The amendment also provides that failure of a park district (or other public body) to post on its website notice of any meetings or the agenda of any meeting does not invalidate any meeting or actions taken at a meeting.

Even though the new requirements for posting the agendas, effective Jan. 1, 2006, and for posting the minutes, effective July 1, 2006, do not take effect until 2006, the Park District began complying with the new requirements in October, 200 when notified of the new amendments. Individuals wishing to view the agendas or minutes of the Park Board meetings can log onto www.pdofp.org and click on “meetings.”
