School may be out in June, but it’s always a good time to read. Come sign up for our Summer Reading Program starting June 12, and continuing through July 28. The theme this year is “Voyage to Book Island,” and there is plenty of room for both children and adults to participate. Among the special events during this year’s program are a kickoff party for children at 1 p.m. on June 13, and an appearance by Captain Graybeard June 22 at 2 p.m. Finally, there will be a prize drawing after the program is over. Read more and improve your chances of winning.

Free lawn passes to the Ravinia 2006 Music Festival are available for selected dates, on a first come, first served basis. Come to the Circulation Desk and select the tickets for any one date of your choosing while supplies last.

Watch for the advent of the library’s newest electronic resource, X-Refer. This is a set of 100 world famous reference resources, including subjects from general encyclopedias and dictionaries to specialized titles in medicine, law, literature, art, technology and more. All these resources will be available for use in the library, or remotely from any computer with internet access, 24/7, requiring only your Forest Park library card for access.

Just a reminder that the library is closed Sundays during June through August. We will reopen again on Sundays after Labor Day.
