Have you seen the “Pig Parade” all over Oak Park? The pigs are charming and beautiful. My favorite is “Swine Lake,” the pig in front of the Wednesday Journal and Forest Park Review office. You can see a picture of her in her tutu, fake bill, white feathers and precious pink ballet slippers tied up her dainty legs. Do you sense the imagination of Karen Skinner in all this?
And speaking of pigs, I love them. They are affectionate, intelligent creatures, make loyal obedient pets and are very clean. They don’t like to live in dirty places. Do you remember Millie and Kenny Brogdon? Their son had a pet pig. Millie and Kenny used to baby sit the pig (also named Millie) when the son and wife went away. Millie the pig used to climb into her bed and pull the covers over herself on cool nights. If it was noisy in the house she’d walk over and slam the bedroom door (yes, she had her own room when she slept over).
Congratulations to Muarli Allada who received his M.S. in Computer Science in June. Murali’s mother, Ganga Allada came to Forest Park to attend her son’s graduation from DePaul University. While here, Mrs. Allada will be sightseeing and visiting friends and relatives. She will be returning to her home in Hydrabad, India after a few weeks. Murali’s sister, Sunita Allada also came for the graduation. She is working on her PhD in business is Lisle, France. The three of them spent part of one day admiring the Baha’i Temple in Wilmette. Even though there’s a lot of construction going on there, the Alladas said it was sublime and the gardens were as beautiful as they were intended to be.
Leave it to Beverly Thompson to pick the right day to take the Community Center gang to Wrigley Field. They went last Wednesday, the only day the Cubs won! After the game, the travelers watched Mark Pryor playing ball with his son. Unfortunately no one had brought camera.
Danny Goodman also gets congratulated on his graduation from UIC. Danny earned his BS degree in Business. Danny is the son of Benny and Laura Goodman.
