Brookfield Zoo Passes Available
The Brookfield Zoo has generously made admission passes available for us to check out to our library patrons. The passes provide free gate admission for up to four people of any age. They may be reserved for a short time to ensure that they are available, and checked out for three days when you pick them up. Just return them by the end of your three day checkout period.
Survey
Help us serve you better by completing a brief (10 question) survey. You can pick one up at the Circulation Desk, and drop it in the collection box you’ll find there when done. Your responses are confidential, and are greatly appreciated.
Library card signup
Students registering for school August 8 through 10 at the Middle School will have a chance to sign up for library cards at the same time. Students and their parent or guardian just need to stop at the library table and spend two or three minutes completing the application. You will get a “claim check” reminding you when you can drop by the library and pick your card. It’s very easy.
Story times
The Children’s Department is continuing its drop in story times during August at the following days and times:
10:30 a.m. each Monday
7 p.m. each Wednesday
10:30 a.m. each Thursday
Library databases
Watch for two new databases to be offered here at the library in the near future:
“Culturegrams:” The perfect resource for those school projects on “countries of the world,” this will be available in the Children’s Department, and remotely with Internet access and a library card.
“Chicago Consumer Checkbook:” A locally oriented product very much in the spirit of “Consumer Reports,” this will be available here at the library.
And don’t forget that we have several excellent electronic databases that you can use here in the library, or from anywhere else, as long as you have Internet access. Just go to our library website at http://www.forestparkpubliclibrary. From there you click on the “Reference” Link, and in turn, the “Databases” link. Have your library card handy, and be prepared to do the simple registration process for any of our remotely accessible products, which include “Reference USA,” a fabulous business and residential address and phone search product; “XREFER Plus,” a collection of 100 reference sources on subjects A to Z; and “Learning Express Library,” a collection of test preparation and skills development resources. There are several more as well, so log in and take a look. You’ll be impressed!
