Brian Mullen, a superman on the drums, had a most memorable and exciting summer. Not on his beloved drums, but playing catcher for his summer baseball team. The RBI league (Reviving Baseball in the Inner-City) is a nationally run league sponsored by Major League Baseball in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Brian was chosen to play on the RBI Junior All-Stars, sponsored locally by the Chicago Cubs. He played in the Midwest regional tournament in Minneapolis-St. Paul where they won the regional championship. Then on they went to the RBI World Series in Compton, Calif.

In California, team members were treated like major leaguers. Mullen and his team went to Disneyland, attended a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game and played against teams from Los Angeles, Montgomery, Ala., and the Dominican Republic.

For their championship game they played in Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

“I loved talking baseball and playing against talented players from all over the country,” Brian said.

He is the son of Forest Park mailman Joe and Georgine Mullen.

I guess it’s so long drums and hello catcher’s mitt for Brian Mullen.

A big “welcome to Forest Park,” to Jodi Fowler Wright, who is a decorative finisher. Jodi will paint a mural on your wall at home and your friends will think you live in an English country garden, or an ancient castle, a penthouse apartment or whatever your imagination can dream up.
