Harry W. Atherton, 90, Longtime village resident
Harry W. Atherton, 90, died on Nov. 18, 2006, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst, Ill.
Atherton was a resident of Forest Park for 40 years prior to living in Villa Park, Ill., for 17 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the W.F. Hall Printing Company in Chicago where he worked as a pressman for 43 years.
Atherton is survived by two sons, Jay W. of Wisconsin and Harry “Ed” of Forest Park; two daughters, Lora Prueser of Villa Park and Edie Scheiwe of Bartlett, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Brian, Robert and Eric Nies, Charles and Christina Atherton, Caralyn and William Prueser, and Robert and Timothy Scheiwe; and five great-grandchildren.
Atherton was predeceased by his wife Lora (Rice) Atherton.
Visitation was held at the Brust Villa Park Funeral Home at 305 South Princeton, Villa Park, Ill. Funeral services were also held at the Brust Villa Park Funereal Home. Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Gizella R. Krych, 98, Resident of Cicero, Ill.
Gizella R. Krych (Laszlo), 98, of Cicero, Ill., has died.
Krych is survived by two sons, Sigmund L. Krych and Robert J. Krych; her sister Rose Turke of Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Sigmund M. Krych and two siblings, Margaret Laszlo and Julius Laszlo.
Visitation hours were held at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home at 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park. Funeral services and Mass was held at St. Bernardine Church. Interment is at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mary F. Bacon, 76, Longtime Forest Park resident
Mary “Jackie” F. Bacon, 76, died on Nov. 22, 2006, at the Loyola University Medical Center.
Bacon was employed as a chef and lived in Forest Park for 40 years.
She is survived by her children, Faye Collins and Kathy Callahan; a sister, Annie B. Danuel; grandchildren, Jori Osornio, Brian Callahan and Karie Callahan; great-grandchildren, Christina Mogel, Samuel Osornio, Olivia Salazar, Pascual J. Salazar, Francisco Moyer and Cesar Moyer.
Cremation services were handled by Funeral Directors Crematory of Berwyn, Ill. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kopicki’s Heritage Funeral Home, 3117 S. Oak Park Ave., Berwyn, Ill.
Martha Marie Lanious, 79, Former Forest Park resident
Martha Marie Lanious, 79, of Mesa, Ariz., died on Nov. 28, 2006. She was born in Seattle, Wash., on March 30, 1927.
She is a former resident of Forest Park and retired in 1987 as an employee of the state of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Kenneth Lanious Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Maude Lanious; son Kenneth Jr. and his wife Elizabeth; sister Ruth Kessler; brother Paul Lundahl and his wife Mary Ellen; grandchildren Kenneth III, Daniel, and Martha Bess; and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 3 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa, Ariz., with a funeral service at 2 p.m. also at Lakeshore Mortuary.
