Welcome to spring, everyone. Hopefully as you read this, the sun will be out, and flowers will be starting to bloom all around. I’ve already seen leaves poking up in the library’s flower beds, so blossoms can’t be far behind.

There are lots of positive developments to report here at the library, so let me highlight just a few for you.

Chicago Tribune online: Starting this month, we will be offering the Chicago Tribune through our website. Issues back to 1985 are included in this new service, and are searchable. You will be able to come to the library to access the newspaper, but you can also use this service from any computer with Internet access, just by supplying your library card number when prompted. Yet another reason your library card is one of the most important items in your wallet.

E-mail courtesy notices: Just in case you have trouble remembering when your library items need to be returned to the library, our system can send you an e-mail to remind you. Just drop by the Circulation Desk or call and ask for your e-mail address to be included in your borrower’s record. Reminders are automatically sent before due dates. And don’t forget that if you need just a little longer to finish that book, you can renew them online. Just access the library catalog through our website at http://www.forestparkpubliclibrary.org, and use your library card number and a self selected PIN to access your account.

National Library Week: This year National Library Week runs from April 15 to April 21. We always love to see you here in the library, but especially during this special week.

Summer reading: Before you know it, school will be out, and summer reading will be here. Great things are planned for both kids’ and adults’ programs this year. Watch for information about special programs and prizes.
