Burt R. Becker, 91, Former Oak Park resident
Burt R. Becker, 91, of Hot Springs, Ark., died on April 22, 2007. Becker is a former resident of Oak Park.
He is survived by a brother, Raymond Becker of Princeton, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Becker of Downers Grove, Ill., and Florence Armbrust of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
Becker was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Becker; his wife, Dorothy (Armbrust) Becker; and his brother, Russell Becker.
Funeral services will be conducted privately. Interment will be at Glen Oak Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park.
Fr. John A. Rolek, 70, St. Bernardine priest
Fr. John A. Rolek, 70, died of complications following a heart attack on April 21, 2007. Rolek was a native of Chicago who was ordained as a priest on May 1, 1961. Following his retirement, Rolek served as a senior priest at three area parishes, including a roughly one-year stint at St. Bernardine in Forest Park, according to a statement released by the archdiocese of Chicago.
Rolek is survived by a brother Gerald, who lives in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Genevieve (Serwecinski) Rolek.
Rolek attended and graduated from St. Michael the Archangel Elementary School in June 1949, Quigley (North) Preparatory Seminary in June 1954, and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in 1961.
Visitation and funeral services were held at St. Bernardine Parish. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City.
Mary ‘Marge’ Minogue, 84, Formerly of Forest Park
Mary M. Minogue, 84, of Elmwood Park, Ill., died on April 9, 2007 at her home. She was a former resident of Forest Park.
Minogue was born in Hannibal, Mo., on Oct. 5, 1922.
She is survived by two sons, John Minogue and Mike Minogue; a daughter, Susan Presler; a sister, Barbara Benzaquin; two brothers, Russ Vansteel and Chuck Vansteel; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Matilda (Hermesmeyer) Vansteel; her husband, Paul “Jack” Minogue; a brother, Frank Vansteel; and a sister, Ruth Pietkiewicz.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernardine Church in Forest Park and interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7234 W. Ogden Ave., suite 3 South, Riverside, Ill.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., 9445 West 31st St., Brookfield, Ill.
