Major Girls
This past week, the Girls Majors softball team, Chix with Stix, took it on the chin twice. On Wednesday, June 13, the team lost to Franklin Park 1 17-2. The rare highlights were provided by Madison Doss who drove in a run and scored a run.
On Thursday, June 14, the team lost to River Grove 1 22-2. Runs were scored by Christina C’arr and Autumn Spears on RBI’s by Shannon Buchanon and Megan Braniff. Autumn also made two nice plays at third base.
FP Mohr Oil easily slides past Broadview
“Do not go gentle…” was the theme of the game as Mohr Oil traveled to Broadview to take on the Astros. Mohr Oil opened the scoring with a four-spot in the top of the first inning when Jimmy Turek, Brady Ryan, Aaron Jordan, Josiah Simmons and Miles Baggett all singled consecutively. Miles Baggett, making his first start of the season, allowed the first three batters to score, then shut the door on the Astros, striking out five batters in two innings of work. With the score 8-4 by the fourth inning, Mohr Oil put up enough runs for three games. Milo Hanses scored two runs, Isaiah Sinclair scored two runs, Jimmy Turek added two more runs, Brady Ryan scored another run, Josiah Simmons scored two runs, Miles Baggett plated a run, Taylor Hassell scored a run, Sydney Higgins-Jones, Brian Jimenez, and Ian Alston all scored runs in the fourth inning. The scoring was completed by Mike Seley to make the final score 23 to 4.
Senior Boys first game coached by Frank Curry
Danny Gonzalez pitched five strong innings giving up only two earned runs in an 11-7 victory over Berkeley. Steve Slowik came in to close the game, pitching two scoreless innings. Slowik also went 4-for-4 with three RBI’s.Gonzalez, Shawn Starks, Sergio Barraza, and Andy Hernandez each had RBI’s to provide Forest Park with the offense.
