A free program intended to familiarize community members with some of the inner workings of the police department will begin next month, and interested parties are encouraged to apply now. The 10-week Citizen Police Academy will meet weekly from Sept. 13 to Nov. 13 to discuss a range of law enforcement topics. Evidence collection, self-defense skills and a ride-along program are among the subjects that will be covered.
Registrants must be 18 years old and either live, work or own property in Forest Park. Applicants are subject to background check. For more information, contact Sgt. Pete Morrissette or Deputy Chief Tom Aftanas at the Forest Park Police Department.
