Hosty running for GOP convention seat

Village Commissioner Mark Hosty is running in the Feb. 5 primary to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Hosty is pledging to support Arizona Sen. John McCain for president.

“I feel that John McCain is the best guy for the job,” Hosty said.

Voters in the GOP primary will vote for delegates directly. Delegates are selected by congressional district to represent the party at the 2008 convention in Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Hosty’s name will appear on the ballot in the 7th Congressional District.

Hosty said he met McCain six or seven years ago at a fundraiser for Illinois State Rep. Jim Durkin, who was running for the U.S. Senate. Durkin is a key Illinois supporter of McCain and asked Hosty to run.
