Parade marks Irish holiday
The 13th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 and is expected to feature several parade favorites in addition to a new participant. The staple marching bands, bagpipes and Medinah Shriners will be joined this year by the Lawn Rangers, according to the Chamber of Commerce and Development. The Lawn Rangers are a world famous group that has marched in parades for the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, and the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Ariz. The Rangers hail from Arcola, Ill., and their performance features lawn mowers and brooms.
There is no cost to attend the annual Forest Park parade. For additional information on the event, contact the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce and Development at (708) 366-2543.
Bowling for dollars
An annual fundraising event that benefits the Oak Leyden Developmental Services early intervention program will be held March 1 at Circle Bowling Lanes, 7244 Circle Ave. in Forest Park. For $80 per couple, participants can take part in a silent auction, catered dinner and, of course, bowling, all set to music by Fig DJ. The evening begins with cocktails at 6:15 p.m.
Through the last seven fundraisers, the event has raised more than $13,000 for Oak Leyden’s program, which serves children with developmental disabilities from birth to age 3. Last year’s Candlelight Bowl and Bowling Gallery raised $6,000.
Chris Guillen Photography Group is hosting this year’s fundraiser. For more information contact the photo studio at (708) 488-1824.
