The stork brought twins to David and Rene Collins of Marengo Avenue. Thirty some years ago David himself was born right here in Forest Park. His father – the twins’ grandfather – Kevin Collins was a student at the now vanished Loyola dental school. His mother is Cathy Collins. The paternal grandparents are now living in LaGrange.
The twins’ other grandparents are Mae and Rene Maragh of Chicago.
The twin boys were born June 16 at Hinsdale Hospital. Payton Nevin weighed 4-pounds 13-ounces and measured 17 inches. Maddux David weighed 4-pounds 9-ounces and measured 18 inches long. (You can tell by the names that Daddy David is a sports fan).
There was a most enlightening discussion of the “Mystery of Edwin Drood” with the Dickens club vs. the Holmes club at Centuries & Sleuths two weeks ago. The participants tried to figure out how Holmes would have solved the mystery of the disappearance of Edwin Drood. Dickens himself was the only one who knew the answer to the mystery and he died before he finished the book. It was a fascinating discussion, with lots of humor thrown in. You can drop in at the bookstore at 7419 Madison St. almost any Sunday or Saturday afternoon and listen to a bright group of readers discussing just about anything. Remember, this bookstore was rated one of Chicagoland’s 10 best in Tempo magazine.
Another mystery solved … where is Nancy Bower? She and Brendan O’Connor have been at Disneyland for the Kiwanis International Convention.
Goodbye and good luck to Diane Coleman of the Progress Center. Diane has done a remarkable job and will be continuing her good works in Rochester, N.Y.
Welcome to Forest Park to newcomers Drs. Jason and Jamie Canner. He is a pediatric oncologist, she is pediatrician. They picked the hottest, most humid day so far this year to move in.
