Robert H. Faerber, 87, Mail carrier for 40 years
Robert H. Faerber died July 11 at West Suburban Hospital after a long struggle with kidney failure and multiple myeloma. Although he was undergoing dialysis three days a week, he remained very active at home and with his VFW Post 7181 where he was a past commander. He was 87.
Faerber was born in Chicago, but grew up in River Forest where he attended Lincoln School and Oak Park River Forest High School as a member of the class of 1940. Shortly after graduation, he married Lorraine Melgaard, a Forest Park native. When WWII broke out, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Pacific for six years, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association and the 201st Infantry Association. Following his discharge, he worked as a letter carrier at the Forest Park Post Office for 40 years and as a school crossing guard at Lincoln School for 20 years until the age of 80.
Faerber is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lorraine; sons Bob and Scott; daughter Sharon; and granddaughters Donna and Karen.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter A. Faerber and Helen Roberta Faerber.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home in Forest Park and burial was at Forest Home Cemetery, also in Forest Park.

Lillian Virginia Grillot, 86, Forest Park resident
Lillian Virginia Grillot (Marlowe), 86, of Forest Park, died July 13, 2008. She was a former resident of Naperville and a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Ceni, Harlan, Marie and Paul Grillot; seven grandchildren, Noel, Michael, Megan, Logan, Wade, Jordan and Greg; and eight great-grandchildren, Rachael, Jackson, Henry, Lillian, Marley, Aidan, Peyton and Piper.
Grillot was predeceased by her husband, Homer Neath Grillot; and her parents, Thomas Verner Marlowe and Mattie Virginia (Hayes).
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joseph Nosek and Sons Funeral Home, 6716 W. 16th St., Berwyn. Funeral services and interment will be in Tennessee.
