Junior Boys
The Junior Boys All-Star Team has one the District Title and on their way to winning a state championship. Should the 13 and 14-year-old ball players win state, they will have earned a bid to compete for the regional championship in Indiana.
Fresh off their Nazareth Tournament victory, the local all-stars entered the District Tournament as one of 10 teams looking to capture the title. The team defeated the reigning champs, Berkeley, by the score of 9-5, and then beat Devon Higgins 8-0 and Norridge 16-5 to advance to the championship game. After losing the first game to Norridge by a score of 5-3, the boys rebounded in the final game and beat Norridge 10-0 to win the District Title.
With the District Title in hand, the young players squared off against a squad from Elgin with a ticket to the state championships on the line. Once again the Forest Park team proved that when they’re on, they’re a hard team to beat. They took two games from Elgin and advanced to the state finals in Burbank.
Congratulations to Danny Barron, David Johnsen, Eric LeCoure, Brian Powers, Connor Hudson, Andrew Doss, Jack Marino, Brandon Buchanan, Eric Loury, Andrew Sloan, Greg Allen, Christopher Dunaway and Corey Sansone.
