It was the last weekend of the summer so several blocks held their final block party of 2008. Carol Novak supervised the operation of the piñata and swarms of children rushed to collect the goodies. Scooping up the delights of the 500 Hannah Avenue piñata in the photo are, Ryan Scott, Megan Murphy, Laura Murphy, Reagan Hosty, Nick Novak, Jillian Johnson, Bella Nacke, Michael Tricoci, Kaitlin Dunlop and Delaney Johnson. Meanwhile, over on the 600 block of Beloit, neighbors and friends were enjoying the vegetables of Joe Gianelli‘s famous garden vegetables. May Bill‘s legendary bean casserole, and other delectables, too numerous to mention, were also savored.

Here are neighbors Mary Ann Fabbrini and her friend Jessica McKenzie. Jessica is holding her new puppy, Nemo. Leashed dogs are welcome at this block party. Leashed dogs are welcome just about anywhere. Unleashed dogs are usually very nice, too, but their owners should be locked up.

Before we go one word further let us say “Lo Shanah Tovah” to everyone. It is the year 5769. May it bring peace to us all.

Sympathy to Mark Hosty on the death of his mother, Margaret Hosty. Mrs. Hosty was described by her dear friend, Maureen Harnett, as a very elegant, well-organized woman. She will be missed by all who knew her.
