A 7-year-old was struck by a van Sunday afternoon and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A hospital spokesperson declined to comment on the child’s condition, citing federal privacy regulations, but according to police, “he’s doing fine.”
The collision occurred just before 12:30 p.m. on the Circle Avenue overpass. The child is a resident of Forest Park. An accident reconstruction team from the Cook County Sheriffs Department was called in to help with the investigation.
The driver of the van, a Chicago man, was not charged in the incident.
