As decided by celebrity judge Judy Baar Topinka, Gallery Etc. will take home the “major award,” offered in the spirit of the holiday classic A Christmas Story, for the best live display during this year’s Holiday Walk. The annual event was held Friday, Dec. 5 and showcased creative window displays in storefronts along Madison. The friendly competition is held primarily to celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season, and features a variety of family-friendly activities.
Gallery Etc., 7349 Madison, is owned by Jeanine Guncheon. Her display included a professional juggler and a stilt walker.
Second place this year belongs to Deedee & Edee for its spoof on A Christmas Story, and Team Blonde took third place with elves administering manicures and pedicures in the store’s front window. According to the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce and Development, which sponsors the event, the “major award” will be crafted by Two Fish Art Glass and displayed in the winning store.
