Money is cure for ailing Circle Theatre

Circle Theatre thanks our incredible community, but asks for your continued support. For those theatre lovers that keep up with the local theatre news, some may have heard of a few predominant Chicago theatre companies having serious financial woes. Some companies are canceling productions or, even worse, closing down.

Circle Theatre in Forest Park is not in that position … yet. But we have been struggling a bit. A slow December in attendance and year-end donations was followed by a record breaking attendance in January. Circle does not want to announce a “fire sale” yet, but ask we ask our friends and family to come out and see our next few productions to get us over the hump.

Circle has two shows opening soon: a Midwest premier of Charles Mee’s romantic comedy/tragedy, A Perfect Wedding, opening March 18 (with our recession-fighting $12 previews March 13, 14 and 17), and our incredible youth program (ages 10-18) will be presenting the mega-musical Les Miserables at Dominican University’s Martin Hall from March 10-14.

Circle is so grateful to our community for its support. We have some amazing patrons that have been with us for our entire 24 years, and just last weekend we had a bunch of brand new patrons attending our new plays readings. Though Circle is going through a tough spell, we don’t want to ask for a handout, but we would love to see your butt in our seats.

Carnival of thanks

The Garfield PTA hosted its annual Winter Carnival in January, and it was another fun and successful event thanks to the support of so many volunteers. Parents, friends and past Garfield students generously gave their time and/or made donations of baked goods and prizes for our raffle. Everyone had a great time.

A special “thank you” to the following Forest Park and Oak Park businesses for their generous donations:

Ed’s Way, Ultra Foods, The Park District, Team Blonde, Louie’s Grill, O’Sullivans, Skincare Company, Golden Steer, Healy’s, Bertuca Salon, Chris Guillen Photography, Todd and Holland, Starbuck’s, Jimmy’s Place, Deja by Len, Casa de Puros, R’Place, McGaffer’s, Paciugo, Brown Cow, Two Fish, Bushwood, The Book Table, Puree’s Pizza, Anna’s Boutique and The Competitive Foot.
