Video games and octogenarians haven’t always gone hand-in-hand, but a new league of gamers at Altenheim is changing that.

Handfuls of seniors within the community are signing up to play in a bowling league that uses Nintendo Wii, and they’re finding that it’s really fun. Skepticism has been replaced with enthusiasm. What’s more important is that the isolation that tends to creep in on us in our golden years is giving way to friendships. During a recent afternoon of play, a reporter couldn’t help but notice the similarities in how these friendly competitors interact and the dynamic that exists on most any team of weekend warriors.

To the Altenheim bowlers, here’s hoping life brings you nothing but strikes.
