Good clean fun

I am a resident of the 800 block of Lathrop Avenue and a happy recipient of the celebration that occurred here on Saturday night!

In the past years this occasion has been the cause of celebration and trepidation. We had fun, but at what cost. Our yards were trashed. Our properties violated by fireworks viewers drinking and urinating and often fighting in our alleyways and streets. Fun became fiasco. We dreaded the fallout.

I am happy to report that this year was a complete turn around. I credit the police presence at our alley and in the surrounding streets, which carefully and tactfully regarded the rights of homeowners and guests alike.

On behalf of myself and other pleased residents, thank you for the outstanding professional response to the wonderful presentation of our Fourth of July celebration.

Thanks for support

The Forest Park Youth Soccer Association would like to thank the park district for a great July 4 celebration. What a wonderful fireworks show! The park district is due a big thanks for preparing the park and dealing with the challenging weather – kudos to Larry Piekarz and his team.

Our youth soccer association has been privileged to operate the beverage tent at the event and this year received a sponsorship from the Forest Park Liquor Association – thank you! This support helps our program maintain the quality and value for a spring and fall season. Learn more about the upcoming season at www.fpysa.org.
