A volunteer effort to establish a public garden in one of Forest Park’s small parks has thus far been fruitful, and on Sept. 22 growers donated their produce to a Maywood homeless shelter.

The collection of leafy greens and colorful vegetables is the first such donation to West Suburban PADS by members of the Forest Park Community Garden. Several of the gardening beds were planted for the purpose of contributing to local food pantries and shelters. The garden, created this summer by Gina Garrison and Jessica Rinks, is located in an unnamed park on the northwest corner of Harlem Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway.
