A federal grant in the amount of $100,000 has been awarded to the Forest Park Police Department to offset the cost of video surveillance equipment installed at the station. Also, upgrades to the camera system in squad cars and other police vehicles would also be paid for with this grant, according to a memo to the village council from Chief Jim Ryan. The grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Justice. Technology upgrades made by the municipal department after March 11 are eligible for the grant reimbursement.
