Halloween events are in abundance this weekend, and there are several chances – all highlighted in these pages – to showoff your costume, collect candy and hear chilling stories.

  • Official trick-or-treat hours in Forest Park this year are from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
  • Grab your flashlight and a lawn chair and head to Forest Home Cemetery, 863 Desplaines, on Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. for The Pit and the Pendulum.
  • Skrine Chops, 7320 Madison, is having a costume contest, palm reading and other fun from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Halloween, and it’s all to raise money in support of local veterans. $20 at the door.
  • Haunting tales of the Midwest can be heard Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson, at 7 p.m. And it’s free.
