Let’s all welcome Joan Steinbach back to the 500 block of Thomas. Joan will be living across the street from daughter, Terry, and will have a lovely studio for painting.
Some members of Saint Peter’s Church think Judy Jilek needs a bit more recognition for all she has done for that church. So here is another pat on the back for Judy who takes care of so many details for that congregation. Not to mention all her work in getting that lovely old building on the registry of historical sites. Nice work, Judy.

Schauer’s has a collection box for offerings of food for the Forest Park Food Pantry. Out back, Carl Ferrer reminds us to recycle as much as possible. Norton the dog (not pictured, sorry) reminds us that pets need remembering, too.
Rick Schauer just completed a course in citizen police training. It was very enlightening and ended with a bang, literally – they all got Tasered. His advice, don’t volunteer for something like that.
Time to start marking your calendar for the season, too. The annual sing-along Messiah will again be held at First United Methodist Church of Oak Park, 324 North Oak Park Ave. on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 6 at 3:30. This messiah is cosponsored by the church and MacDowell Artists. Proceeds benefit the PADS homeless shelter. This year, the church is hoping for even greater donations because of the lousy economy. You can sit and listen or sing along. Scores are available at the church.
