Franklin A. Shartzer, 83, Forest Park resident
Franklin A. Shartzer, of Forest Park, has died. Shartzer was 83 years old and formerly a resident of Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Dotson); his children, Nancy Czyz and Sandy Hoshell; three grandchildren, Heather, Jessica and B.J.; and three great-grandchildren, Lia, Tessa and Danny.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at East Lawn Memorial Garden Mausoleum in Bloomington. Interment is at East Lawn Memorial Garden.
Services were held under the direction of Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 Madison.
Joseph Scolaro, 73, Former village employee
Joseph Scolaro, formally a longtime village resident and employee of the Forest Park National Bank, died Oct. 2, 2009. He was born Dec. 19, 1935, and lived in Las Vegas, Nev., at the time of his death.
While living in Forest Park, Scolaro also worked for the municipal water department. He was an active member of St. Bernardine’s Church.
Scolaro is survived by his wife, Marlene (Smid) Scolaro. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 26. He is also survived by his daughters, Debra Rhodes of Florida, Cathleen Scolaro of Las Vegas, Barbara Scolaro-Kolar of Bolingbrook and JoAnn Phillips of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Mandy Jo Valenza, Mary Kolar, Sean Kolar, Brandi Phillips, Alexis Phillips, Makayla Phillips and Edward Abraca; a great-granddaughter, Francesca, and a great-grandson expected in December.
He is also survived by his brother, Gus Scolaro of Forest Park; and his sisters, Mary Jane Levin of Aurora, and Antoinette Scolaro of Countryside; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Bernardine’s Church in Forest Park at 5 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2010.

Mary Vandeburg, 94, Forest Park resident
Mary Vandeburg, a resident of Forest Park for 55 years, died at the Oak Brook Nursing Home on Nov. 7, 2009. She was 94.
Vandeburg is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Provenzano; her grandchildren, Suzanne Fountas, Matthew R. Vandeburg, Dawn Fenner and Kelly Adams; and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alec, Christine, Megan and Kyle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Vandeburg; and a son, Matthew Vandeburg.
A private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery was held Nov. 14.
