Desplaines Avenue in Forest Park was reopened to traffic earlier this morning after public works crews worked through the night to contain a water main break that shut the street between Harvard and Roosevelt.
The pipe burst near the intersection of Desplaines and Harvard late in the evening Wednesday, and the village shut the street at 11 p.m.
“We shut down traffic, because we knew we wanted to do the work overnight,” said Village Administrator Tim Gillian.
The street was reopened to traffic some time after 7 a.m. during the morning rush hour.
