Roy S. Bender, 74, of Forest Park, has died. Bender lived in the community for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs from 1958 to 1959. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in marketing and later received a master’s in business administration from Rosary College in River Forest. He retired from his business career in 2000.
Bender is survived by his wife, Virginia (Allen); his children, Michael, Les and Kevin Starr; his grandchildren, Katrina and Karin Bender and Misty and Lacy Starr; and a nephew, Chuck Allen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 Madison. Services will be held at 7 p.m. and interment will be private.
