Proposed changes to Forest Park’s land-use regulations will be the subject of two meetings this month at village hall. At each, public officials are looking for feedback before finalizing the list of possible alterations to the zoning and building codes that would be submitted to the council for approval.

On March 11 at 7 p.m., Village Administrator Tim Gillian will present an outline of potential changes impacting properties that carry the legal non-conforming status. There is an abundance of such properties in Forest Park, and several examples of such can be found on the village’s Web site, www.ForestPark.net, under the News and Events heading.

Using the same link, residents can find details on proposed changes to the building codes. A public discussion on this matter is set for March 16 at 7 p.m., also at village hall, 517 Desplaines Ave.

Any modification to either set of regulations must first be vetted by the zoning board of appeals and plan commission, respectively, before going to the council for a final decision. The meetings scheduled for March 11 and March 16 are being held in addition to the formal approval process.
