The good news, at least to some of us, is that the crows are back in town after a five-year-plus absence due to the west Nile virus. The big black fellows are at it again, bossing all the little birds around and acting like clowns.
Straight from Paris is charming Sandrine Faminaro along with her husband, Douglas and dear little brown-and-white Boston Terrier, Bidou. Douglas is hearing impaired, Sandrine is a fluent signer, and they have been with us for several years. In fact, Douglas was the first tenant in the row of condos on Brown Avenue. A friend, Silvanna from Russia, is visiting here also. Silvanna, too, is hearing impaired, so the three of them are very quiet neighbors. Even little Bidou hardly ever barks. Douglas has access to a special televison screen that accompanies his telephone. Only the hearing impaired are allowed to use these special telephones Users sign to each other instead of making verbal contact.
One 2010 college graduate who is assured of a job is young Scott (“Scotty”) McAdam, who pursued his studies in the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He will receive his degree in horticulture on May 15. Parents Veronika and Scott McAdam are justly proud of their son, who has worked for many years at McAdam Landscaping. Congratulations, Scotty, and congratulations to your parents.
