“This town really knows how to throw a party.” So says Cec Hardacker, a co-owner of Two Fish Art Glass and a co-conspirator in mounting this weekend’s SummerFest.
Friday evening and all day Saturday, most of Madison Street will be converted into the giant party known as Forest Park SummerFest. Whether you’re a kid flying down the giant slide or a grown-up quaffing a cold one while listening to live music, SummerFest is just fun. And it shows off our town to great advantage whether you’re a local walking up the street from Jackson or a city dweller discovering Forest Park for the first time.
The magic of a street fest like this is that it looks effortless. We know better. Thanks to the organizers, the merchants, the cops, the promoters, the village, the performers, the streets department, the restaurateurs, the porta-potty delivery fellows.
SummerFest is Forest Park at its entrepreneurial, collaborative best. Come out and enjoy.
