We wrote last week that Tashaun Hamilton graduated from the Forest Park Middle School. She has a remarkable story.

Tashaun and her twin brother, Taquan, arrived in Forest Park just a year back. Both children suffered from heart ailments, a condition that took their mom’s life a few years ago. In the course of her one and only year at the middle school, Tashaun’s health deteriorated to the point she was put on the wait list for a heart transplant. She received the transplant at Children’s Memorial and is making her recovery.

The trauma didn’t keep her from making the National Junior Honor Society, from tutoring other kids while at Children’s, from being a strong support for her family.

This is a wonderful young woman, one for all of us to take pride in.
