For every year that we’ve had SummerFest, the Forest Park Eagles, one of the service clubs that has done good work for so many organizations in the community, has sold cotton candy from a not-to-be-missed booth near Doc Ryan’s. Same sugary confection. Same location. Same price.

This year, the charity was shifted to a less-prominent location and, to its surprise, faced competition from a for-profit vendor. At this more prominent booth, there was observance of the all-American tactic of price undercutting.

All well and good if the concept was Celebrity Apprentice. Like cotton candy, it sticks in our craw that this would unfold at a community event.
